They Say It's Your Birthday...

Today I'm 29 years young...I had a great weekend surrounded by family and friends. Thank goodness for a 3 day weekend, I was able to go to bed early Thursday and sleep in Friday. I took advantage of my week day off and went to the Dr. to get rid of this sinus infection STAT.

The rest of Friday I spent time in bed recovering and my mom came down in the early afternoon. She sat on my bed with me and we just chatted away. Something about having your mom around always makes you feel better :)

Friday night Ruth planned a happy hour at The Keg that wound up lasting 3 1/2 hours! It was seriously the most fun I've had in a long time. We had great food, drinks and of course company :) Especially since my mom was able to join us! I need to get some pictures from her, this is all I have...
Saturday I continued to recover and spent some time with Mama. That afternoon we attended a wedding of a pilot friend of Dan's. It was a really nice venue and the best part was that the Big Bang Gang from the Big Bang piano bar was the entertainment! No luck on Julie (my absolute fave gal) but Mikey aka Napoleon was there with the bald guy and drummer who totally rocks out! We had so much fun dancing and singing along.

Today we had brunch and cake at my sis in law's house. Niece Gia helped me blow out the candle, just like Nicholas did last year!
Nicholas was not so much into the cake, but the colored frosting. He was in heaven until we took it away from him...
What baby doesn't love artificial coloring?

I went shopping with sisters and mother in law and got some great deals at Old Navy...I got 4 shirts for $1.97 each, a jacket for $5.47 and I splurged on a $13 sweater, whatareyougonnado? According to Sarah's rule that you need to wear an item one time for every dollar you spent on it, I'll only have to wear each one twice to get my money's worth!

This week should go by quickly, I've got a training after school tomorrow, Common Core ELA training Tuesday morning and Depth day (teacher collab) Wednesday. I'll be getting the house ready for company; Erin arrives Thursday and Kate, Chris and Rob will be here Friday. Then we'll all celebrate our college gal reunion and Meg's baby shower over the weekend.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to all of my wonderful family and friends who have made me feel so loved today!

The Countdown Begins

Today is September 13, thirteenth. Which means my lovelies, that in exactly 2 months I will bid 28 adieu. Say it isn't soooooooooooo!!! I'm not hip to turning 29 and catching up with my older man of a husband.

If anything, I'd like to revert back to being 26, young enough and old enough at the same time. 26 was a good year for me; I became a Sarti, got our dog baby Hannah, bought a house and moved to first grade .

Although 28 isn't exactly 26 I could argue that it's considered "mid" twenties and maybe, just maybe 30 won't be knocking on my door next time I turn around.

It's strange to want time to pass quickly but slowly at the same time...deep, I know :)

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Earth Day Birthday

After my last blog rant, I must redeem myself...

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband, Dan! He and twin sister (aka best friend to moi) turned 29 on Earth Day. This week we geared up to celebrate Earth Day by reading and retelling "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss.
I geared up to celebrate Dan's birthday by baking a cake Thursday night (after my week from h***) and made plans with our friends Lauren and Alex to go golfing. Friday (birthday) morning I made breakfast for the twins and packed a picnic lunch for our golf outing.
The weather was great, not too hot for late April! We enjoyed the outdoors and each other for 18 holes and a picnic!
We even saw geese and their babies and a mama duck and her babies...just like "Make Way For Ducklings"! One of my favorite books :)
After golf we headed to Blue Wasabi for some good sushi with good friends. It may be one of my last sushi outings for a while...here's hopin! We had everyone back to our place for drinks, birthday cake and egg decorating! It wouldn't be a Sarti Party without a structured activity :) We also celebrated Ty and Johnst's upcoming birthdays, Sheila couldn't make it :(

Saturday was nice and lazy, I baked a carrot cake for Sarti family Easter and for the twin's birthday celebration with the family. Dinner was ham at bro and sis in law Bob and Trish's house. I was quite proud of my creation and everyone else loved it as well. You can't go wrong with cream cheese frosting.

Easter morning I filled baskets and hid eggs. The highlight? Playing hot and cold with my 29 year old husband to find the hard boiled eggs! Of course doggie girl helped...she sniffed them out!

Can you find the eggs?
