First thing this morning I updated my word wall (oops) and I thought about all the high frequency words (words you can't sound out) we have learned. I am so impressed with my kiddos because almost all of them have learned 100% of the words! The picture doesn't do it justice, but there are about 200 words up there and these kids are only 6 years old ;) This is in addition to the hundreds of other words that they can "sound out" thanks to hours and hours a day of phonics practice.
I'm so proud of my kids these days (even though they make me crazy half of the time), the year is almost over and they've come so far. Today I remind myself how much I love being a teacher because tomorrow when I take them to the zoo I may be singing a different tune...
