Fun on the Fourth

I'm home after vacationing for 2 weeks! While my blog may have been neglected, my rest and relaxation have not :) Waaay back on July 2, we headed up to Prescott for some good old fashioned 4th of July fun. This year did not include the Rodeo, a big part of the weekend and Dan felt a little cheated. There is always next year. We did have plenty of time with family which is a change from our usual Prescott schedule of rushing around from house to house visiting various family members.

We started the weekend downtown at the 4th of July parade.
We also watched the niece and nephews run in the boot race.

They were awesome! Then we put on our cowboy best and headed over to Dan's mom's house for a BBQ/ Birthday celebration for sis in law Sadie.

My parents came also, it was so nice to spend time with everyone without having to rush off to the rodeo, much to Dan's chagrin. We relaxed outside (the weather was beautiful!) and ate birthday cake (an almond cake I made the day of the jalapeno disaster).

Sunday we relaxed with my parents and Dan's mom and Dick came over for appetizers and drinks out on the deck. It RAINED! It felt so good to feel the rain, see the rain, hear the rain, smell the rain!

Monday we headed home with my mom in tow, we were heading out Wednesday to visit family in New York. We grilled burgers and watched the fireworks from OUR BACKYARD! We didn't plan to go to the local show because of all of the traffic etc. but when we were out picking up stuff to grill we saw the crowds gathering just north of our development. Lucky for us, our backyard faces north so we took a seat and watched an amazing 30+ minute fireworks display! Then we set off a few ground fireworks of our own :)

It was a great 4th of July weekend!
