The Twin's Nursery

Well we've had to kick things into high gear the last week or so and get everything ready for these babies! It started with my visit to the new OB last Wednesday when they noticed Baby A measuring small, a pound less than Baby B (turns out that's ok) but his measurements were too small for the doctor to be comfortable so she sent us to a specialist. Friday we went to a MFM who is a fetal cardiac specailaist and we had a VERY detailed scan done on both babies.

The sonographer spent over an hour (not so comfy) looking at all of their measurements and blood flow throuh the hearts and umbilical cords. The final consensus was that Baby A has umbilical cord resistance, it is difficult for him to pump blood in and out and this is resulting in Intra Uterine Growth Restriction. The plan is to monitor them twice a week and see if the resistance gets any worse, if so they will want to schedule delivery. Scary!

I went for a non stress test on Monday but between 3 medical assistants, a doctor and a doppler they were unable to keep the monitors on both babies long enough to get the information they needed. Thirty minutes later they did a BPP test using ultrasound and Baby B scored 8/8 points and Baby A scored 6/8 which is considered ok. They were watching for him to practice his breathing movement in the diaphram which he didn't in the 30 minutes we were watching. At the very end, the sonographer said she saw it but I'm not convinced. She was very concerned about running late for her other patients so I think she just wanted me off her table. Boo.
I go back Friday for a regular OB appt. and then straight to the specialist to have the umbilical resistance montiored again. So we should know then whether I'm delivering this weekend or not. Fingers crossed for NO, these babies need more time!

Aaaaanyway, we've been working to get all of the last minute things finished just in case!

The best part being the nursery...this includes hanging the names that my sweet friend Amber of Ramber Designs made for us as a gift! She's awesome!

I owe a HUGE thank you to my wonderful husband for paiting the entire room by himself and assembling both cribs! Also my mom and brother helped out a ton putting on the finishing touches :)

The view when you walk in the door, where William James will sleep :)
The other side of the room; Benjamin Daniel's crib :)
Changing table and closet area
 Bookshelves and window.
With the airplane mobile. I still need to put pictures in the frames above the cribs.
Their initials that were part of the shower decor.
Hooks and twin poems that were also part of the shower decor.
 Closet

Clouds Dan patiently put on the ceiling.
 Benjamin Daniel
 William James

And just for fun, some pictures of us working on the nursery the weekend of my shower.
 Dan working hard
My brother Ryan installing the bookshelves
Me, my cankles and the dog sister
Arranging the books in the shelves
Dog sister Hannah checking out what's in the cribs.

There you have it! I hope the babies love it just as much as we do :)

  1. The nursery looks so great!!! How exciting, you're getting so close :) I hope the umbilical resistance sorts itself out and you don't have to deliver early. BTW--I'm pretty sure that I guessed Ben and Will. Definitely Will anyway :)
