Back to Work Boogie

I'm officially back to work...and depressed! I can't believe that I have to leave my sweet babies every day :( I plan to finish this school year so I can be eligible for the Teacher Loan Forgiveness program where I'll have $10,000 of my student loans forgiven for teaching in a Title One school for 5 years, whew! That is seriously the only reason I can bring myself to go through this madness for 5 more months and pay my salary in day care. It's been a tough week but I've had help from some amazing friends. Dan is still in Charlotte training for US Airways so I've been flying solo with the twins, it's quite the boogie!

Our days have gone from cuddles, bottles and dvr to driving, day care and driving. It is crazy but here is a quick look at our schedule.

4:00am - my alarm goes off and I shower and pack my lunch and the babies bottles for the day.

4:30-5:30 the babies wake up and I feed them their bottles

5:30 - diaper change and get dressed for the day

5:45 - I get dressed while the babies chill in the pack and play

6:00 - I pack the car up and get them in their car seats

6:15 - we leave for day care

6:30 - day care drop off, I swaddle them and put them to sleep in the cribs there

6:45 - I leave for school

7:15-4:00 -my school day :( wah, wah, wah

4:30 - day care pick up, yay!!

5:00 - I feed them their dinner bottle, this week we've been lucky enough to have visitors come and help with this feeding so the babies can be held. I really appreciate that because they are propped on boppies for the rest of their feedings.

6:00-8:00 - play time, the babies don't have an evening nap but they will doze sometimes since the evenings are their fussy time. This kind of stinks since it's the only time I get to spend with them, oh well! I haven't attempted a bath on a school night yet but I may have to tonight, it will sure make the time fly by.

8:00 - time for their evening bottle

9:00 - swaddle, rock and bed time. I will rock one baby while I bounce the other baby in the bouncer, then when he falls asleep I pick up and rock the next one. Then I run laundry, do dishes, pick up and eat if I haven't gotten a chance but I try to hurry to bed so I can get some sleep.

10:00 - I go to bed and the babies should sleep until 4:30 but the last few nights they have been waking up, usually Ben around 1 or 2 and then 3. Last night he was up 13 minutes before my alarm! I wish they would sleep straight through but no such luck yet.

I'm so looking forward to Dan being home so he can help in the evenings and maybe do the 4:30 feeding so I can get some sleep! If he's home on a week day, he'll stay with them and I won't have to do the day care boogie. It won't be often but it will be better than nothing!

I have had so many sweet friends reach out to me during this time and I really appreciate it! Mommies offering advice, friends and family coming over to help with feedings, and I even had a couple of teacher friends loan me different swaddling blankets/sleep sacks to try out. The "Swaddle Me" blanket has changed my life!

So, it's been difficult and exhausting but I have to get through it and stay strong for the sweet, sweet babies. I know I'm not the only mom to return to work but it sure happened quickly and it's been an adjustment. How did you adjust to going back to work?
