The Babies 4th Month

The babies are in their 4th month and I've not dedicated the time I should have to posting about them. A lot of it had to do with the RSV and hospital stays, but I also didn't want to rush through it so now I'm making myself take the time :) I missed their 3 month and instead of being mad at myself about it, I'm going to "keep calm and carry on"! Between working full time, having 2 babies and a husband across the country 5-7 days in a row, I can't keep up how I'd like but I'll do my best!

We had quite a time getting their 4 month pictures (at least I was only a day or two late on those!) but they turned out cute...most of them! Dan took them to their 4 month appointment all by himself! SUPERDAD!!! I was planning to go but after all of the time I took off with RSV, I couldn't afford to take the time off :(

At 4 months Will is 13lbs 11oz - 15%, 24 1/2" - 15-25% and in the 25-50% with head size. He eats 5-6 ounces and holds his head up well while being held but hates tummy time :/ He's started to roll from back to tummy but often gets stuck on his side. He usually sleeps 9pm-6am and naps 3 times a day for 1-2 hours depending. Schedule, schedule, schedule :)

Ben is 12lbs 14oz - 5-15%, 24 3/4" - 25-50% (but I don't understand how that extra 1/4" bumps him up!) and 15-25% with head size. He eats 5-6 ounces and rolls from tummy to back and back to tummy (less often). He usually sleeps 9pm-6am and naps 3 times a day for 1-2 hours depending. Schedule, schedule, schedule :)

Will, you are such a happy guy! I love to kiss your big cheeks and listen to you giggle. Every time you smile, you open your mouth so wide. We still call you Little Tiny even though you are not so tiny. Sometimes it's just "Tine", sorry about that! You still hate tummy time but your head isn't as flat so that's good :) You coo and talk a lot and really study the toys hanging from your bouncer. You LOVE to look in the mirror and smile at your handsome self. If I ever have to wake you up, you shake your head back and forth like you're mad about it. You aren't easy to rock to sleep, silly boy. But that means extra cuddle time for mommy. Now you sleep in a sleep sack instead of a swaddle and love to spread your arms out when you sleep. You usually sleep from 9pm to about 6am, thank you baby!! You are a hungry guy, eating 5 ounces and recently 6 at night and always wanting more. Rice cereal is in your future, don't worry. You are ready for size 2 diapers and wear 6 month sleepers and clothing...big boy! Your socks never stay on because of your cankles but that's ok :) You sit up in the Bumbo for short amounts of time and just smile at everything you see. You are such a joy in our lives!

Ben, you are still our serious man! This makes smiles and giggles that much more gratifying though :) Benny Wenny and Mouse are your current nicknames. You still love to hold your hands together, I think you're plotting something great! You talk to us a lot, making "oooohhhh" sounds and you have a specific sound you make when you get stuck on your back in the crib and want to be rolled over. You're going to have to work on that one because I don't love going in there just to flip you ;) You sleep in a sleep sack and love to tummy sleep.  We're pretty sure you're teething; drooly and a little fussy. I call you "crazy advanced development baby" because you rolled, sat and are teething at a rapid pace. You eat 5 ounces and 6 at night but you're still a slight little guy. You like to wake up from naps a little early to spend some extra time with mommy. You wear 6 month clothing like your brother, but you don't fill it out the same way :) You are such a sweet little mouse and I love to love on you!

I changed up their schedule this month since they started sleeping later and eating more. With the help of Sheila and advice from the day care, we established a schedule that works well and gives us the opportunity to be flexible if needed. Basically they eat at 6:30am (on day care days, they get their first bottle here...sad for mommy) or whenever they wake up. This is where we let them lead, after that we pick up at 10, 1:30, 5 and 8:30 (or 8 if they are super hungry or fussy). Even if they wake up at 8am, Ben did this once! They pick up the schedule at 10am. Usually their morning nap is short since they had a full night's sleep and their midday nap can go up to 2 hours. At least when I'm home with them, sadly the only 2 days I get :(

This month the boys celebrated their first Valentine's Day, had their first hospital stay, had Grandma and Grandpa come visit, went to two birthday parties, had outings to the park, and many sweet visitors came to hold them. It's been a good 4 months!!!
