"Summer" Week 2

Last week was my first "official" week of summer, still fighting morning all day sickness I was able to relax for a couple of days.

On Wednesday our college gal pal Alicia came to visit from Denver. I met up with her and Sarah and we did some shopping. First stop, Last Chance (where Nordstrom goes to die apparently) but we were able to score some deals! I got 2 pairs of Tom's, black and grey...good staple colors considering I lived in my red ones last winter! We hit up Fashion Square for lunch and bathing suit cover ups then spent the afternoon relaxing at Sarah's before yummy mexican food at Ajo's.

Thursday Lauren and I spent our ridiculous purchase orders for summer school at Lakeshore. Spending that much for a 4 week enrichment class should be a crime! We plan on "borrowing" the items for our classrooms next year and returning them to summer school next summer. Then we had to set up our classrooms and meet the students, I had a whopping 3 families show up :/

Friday night Sarah and Alicia cooked a yummy dinner for us and we hung out until it was time for Alicia to go to the airport.

This week was the first week of summer school and it was not as bad as last year. This year I'm teaching First Grade Jumpstart so I have all incoming Firsties and we have a block schedule where I keep the same kids all morning, no switching thank goodness! We did an Eric Carle themed reading block with hungry caterpillars, busy spiders, a well known brown bear and a kangaroo who is a mother too. We learned about insects and their life cycles and spent math time on numbers 0-10. Next week it's a farm week with some of my favorite stories;

 

My mama was here this week helping me start to get organized for the twins! We went through about 3 bags of hand me downs from my sis in law Sheila and there are tons and tons of infant girl clothes that I really want to be able to use! 

 We also went to Buy Buy Baby and made a list of the essentials and picked out some things we will likely register for once we know genders. I have an appointment next week and one two weeks later so we will find out soon! 

Today I've been a bump on a log but the hubs comes home tonight so hopefully we'll have a fun and productive weekend! I do plan to be a better blogger now that it's sweet summertime!
