Last week was a tough week, I got tonsilitis and had to stay home from school Tuesday. I saw the doctor and made it to work on Wednesday. Thursday morning I woke up with pink eye in both eyes! I had to stay home again and I got some eye drops. Luckily we had paid for the full week of daycare, so I took the boys and slept most of the morning. Boy did I need it! I still felt crummy the rest of the week and it was hard taking care of the twins each night without Dan :(
My parents were planning to come down and hurried down Friday night. That was awesome because I was still feeling sick and my eyes were terrible! They got here in time to help feed the babies dinner, they're eating sweet potatoes, green beans and carrots now. I just made peas and pears, going to start those this week! My dad picked up some Chinese food, we gave the boys baths and then we all went to bed! At least the boys and I did :)
Grandma and Grandpa were awesome and got up with the babies when they woke up at 6 am. They got in some good cuddle time and fed them bottles. I tried to sleep in but was up by 7, oh well! At this point I was waiting to hear if Dan was on his way home from Philly or had been called to fly. I couldn't get a hold of him so I knew he was in the air but didn't know if he was working or commuting! Turns out he was on his way home, yay! After he got home my mom and I left to run some errands and got a TON accomplished!
It was my first time going to Once Upon A Child, I wanted to see about selling our second jumparoo and my double nursing pillow to get some store credit to buy an excersaucer. They wouldn't take the jumparoo because it is missing one toy :( and they only offered me $10 for my $75 pillow! I'll take my chances with Craigslist! I did pick up 2 cute patriotic swim suits for the twins. Overall, the prices weren't great considering it's consignment. I can definitely get new items as cheap or cheaper. So, that's what we did! One of our next stops was Kohl's because I had a $10 off coupon that ended that day.
I was on the hunt for more sleepers for the boys, now that Will is over 17 pounds he needs a bigger size! I have a couple of Gerber 6-9 month but they're even getting small for him.We could not find 12 month sleepers! Are they not supposed to be in sleepers at this point??? I like the ease and convenience of them and we don't use sleep sacks anymore, so they still need the warmth because I like to keep it cool in the house at night. I'm in a dilemma, moms? What did you do? Anyway, we did not find sleepers but I did get a romper set and my mom got a couple of rompers for them too. I love them for summer because they're one piece and look so cute! We actually bought two different sizes this time :( We got a size up for Will, poor Ben is just a little mouse! It made me sad but he'll catch up.
We also hit up Target where I got a steal on formula and saved $30! Very important if you ask me! I also got a baby shower gift. On our way home, we stopped at the Dollar Store for wrapping and then I ran into CVS to buy more formula with a coupon. I had a $3 CVS coupon, $3 Similac coupon and 2 $5 checks (they took them both, one was even expired!) so I saved $11. Wooowhooo! I was stoked about my savings that day, I think we'll be alright when it comes to budgeting with one income...in 13 school days!
We enjoyed the evening outside, playing with the babies and grilling out. They're now sitting up pretty much on their own! I still sit them in front of me in case they crash :) The twins enjoyed sitting in their high chairs with toys and watching us eat dinner, now I know how to squeeze in a bite! I was feeling better but not 100% so I didn't make it out to the get together my teacher friends were having :( Instead we got plenty of rest and my parents let us sleep in. This time we slept until 8:30! We had an nice relaxing morning and Dan and I actually got to go out on a lunch date :) It was nice to spend some time together and I didn't feel as guilty since the babies were napping while we were gone. I'm really looking forward to being done with work so I can get plenty of quality time with them and not feel guilty if I take time to do something for me.
Every minute that Dan is home is amazing. I love having him around obviously, but not being outnumbered by the babies and knowing they are getting plenty of attention makes me feel so good. I can rest easy knowing that there's another parent there and we just soak up every moment we're together as a family. I know it may sound overly sappy, but I just really appreciate the time we get together because it is few and far between.
